Geo-archaeological sites play a crucial role in territorial management, bridging heritage conservation and sustainable development. These sites, formed through complex interactions between human activity and geological processes, require interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches for their protection and integration into modern landscapes, considering both their scientific and cultural value and socio-economic potential. The challenges in the managing of these sites include balancing urban expansion with site integrity, mitigating climate change impacts, conscientious management of public and fostering community engagement.
This colloquium aims to establish a specialised forum for the exchange and critical assessment of diverse methodologies and case studies, fostering a comprehensive dialogue among experts. The ultimate objective is to achieve a broad mutual consensus on the fundamental parameters that should guide the formulation of geo-archaeological heritage management strategies, specifically from the perspective of territorial management and sustainable development.
The Scientific Colloquium will take place in Italy, in Avigliano Umbro (Perugia), on July 9th–12th 2025.
